We are currently looking for a Buyer for our client in Hamina, Finland. The start would be in mid June 2020 and the estimated project duration is at least 5 months with a possibility for an extension.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, direct and control the project material management/ procurement function
  • Maintain responsibility for the material management function on his/her project from proposal preparation through project close-out
  • Bidding, conditioning, negotiation and award of (critical) purchase orders
  • Coordinate with home office personnel for data entry into Company material management software, reporting, and invoice review
  • Manage material orders with oversight from Supply Chain Lead 
  • Identify and qualify potential bidders for purchases, rentals and agreements 
  • Perform data entry proficiently in the Material Management Work Process 
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards 
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and change orders, including required approval documentation
  • Ensure timely submittal and processing of supplier invoices 
  • Prepare and issue Request for Quotation (RFQ) packages in accordance with Project Plan 
  • Perform purchase order and invoicing close-out activities 
  • Complete supplier performance evaluations 
  • Coordinate receipt of material at the jobsite checking for damage and discrepancies against the packing list and compliance to the Purchase Order requirements 
  • Process field SAP invoices 
  • Monitor field rental orders and field Frame Agreements and be responsible for obtaining additional funding as needed, including approval process
  • Process Material Receiving Reports, Overages, Shortages, and Damages (OSD) reports, and Field Material Requisitions in the approved material management reference system 
  • Maintain Material Certificates 
  • Participate in contracts negotiation with suppliers
  • Proactively manage suppliers and sub-suppliers to ensure delivery schedules are maintained 
  • Timely and accurate update of approved material management reference system to schedules and notes 
  • Identify potential, and actual disruptions in the supplier's submission and delivery schedules 
  • Ensure that key documents required to progress material status are returned to Supplier at relevant coding in order to proceed 
  • Assist the development of logistics plans incorporating customs clearance processes and International Commercial Terms and regulations associated with import/export 
  • Coordinate domestic shipments and standard international shipments 
  • Analyse prices and propose alternative suppliers selection
  • Analyse the offer conformity with the requirements and the expected Project performance
  • Report on purchasing performance, time schedule and progress and on the activity in general


  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 5 years’ experience in procurement (preferably including actual ‘hands-on’ purchasing gradually developed into responsibility for larger purchase orders (POs)
  • Technical knowledge with experience of industrial purchasing
  • Experience in Purchasing
  • Experience in working with expediting, inspection and logistics specialists
  • Experience in Negotiations
  • Knowledgeable of the EPC process and procurement roles, responsibilities and interfaces with engineering
  • Knowledgeable of the industry and related supplier markets for material & equipment
  • Experience of material management (soliciting pricing, bid evaluation, award recommendations, approval documentation, purchasing, expediting, receipt verification, and invoicing process)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors 
  • Excellent decision-making skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment 
  • Excellent computer and software skills

Language skills:

  • Finnish and English skills
